WiredScore receives Real Business Top 50 Award for innovation

News | Marie Escaich on March 29, 2017

WiredScore has been listed in Real Business’ top 50 UK companies who have pioneered change in their sector. By showcasing the top companies in a diverse range of sectors, Real Business is supporting ambitious SMEs as they establish themselves as industry leaders.

WiredScore is proud to be recognised as changing commercial real estate by providing transparency on the digital capacity of office spaces. In 2013, we launched Wired Certification, the only benchmark for connectivity in commercial property. Wired Certification helps tenants understand if their prospective office space will meet their tech needs and allows landlords and developers to promote the investments they have made in their building’s digital infrastructure.

Since our UK launch in 2015, we now work with over 60 prominent UK landlords, including Blackstone, British Land, The Crown Estate, and Derwent London. EMEA Director William Newton commenting on WiredScore’s place in Real Business’ Top 50 most disruptive companies said “We are delighted to be awarded a spot on this list among other UK companies who have proven to be dynamic forces in their industries. This award proves that we have stimulated conversation on the importance of connectivity in the UK by signing up 35 million square feet of office space to Wired Certification.”

“However, the demand for transparency of digital connectivity in offices is global. Previous companies who have featured on this list include British Fintech success story Funding Circle who are now a global player for peer-to-peer lending, with Real Business predicting their rise from the start. We have a vision of becoming the universal standard for digital connectivity in commercial real estate, starting with our launch in Paris last month. We look forward to replicating our success with forward thinking landlords in Europe and continuing to innovate in the commercial real estate sector."

This year’s list was a particularly good year for rising tech companies, among the many companies listed were Fintech company Neyber, specialist live chat service for SMEs Yomdel and Edtech company Learning Heroes. Tech City UK estimates that the digital sector is creating jobs 2.8 times faster than the rest of the economy, with Edtech, Fintech, and Healthtech emerging as new sectors in the digital economy where the UK is leading globally.

It was also encouraging to see companies from across the UK recognised for their success in this top 50 list. Start-ups Big Change Apps and Bizdaq were founded in ‘Data City’ Leeds, Healthtech company Vision Technologies was created in tech cluster Birmingham and Scottish start ups SnapDragon and StoriiCare were founded in Edinburgh and Glasgow. We can expect with greater opportunities for regional investment and increased smart city initiatives that start-ups will continue to flourish in emerging industry hubs across the UK.
